The Summer of Installation: Sprouted
The concept for this piece is a continuation of my last installation. This figure is the fully realized, self- may not necessarily become a cohesive tree just yet, or ever, this figure is striving to make as much beauty around her as possible. Some objects within the canopy may not match nor are they necessarily realistic, because made, triumphant woman. She has created a beautiful life around her. The scattered, barren twigs of the installation Reaching have now grown new life and sprouted into reality around this new figure. Though the canopy they are part of a self-built world. Her fingerprints are evident in the leaves, and stylized berries and seed pods join in. What can I say, she loves eating fruit and being fruitful! This figure is classically posed and placed just above eye level to give her a sense of establishment and power. She is sturdy and proud of her accomplishments.
I had the opportunity to show off my work tonight. My classmates and I put together an exhibition of our installations from the summer. I was wonderful seeing the work on display, and functioning in the gallery space.
